We all know that pushing feature updates to production via traditional channels is as archaic as painting on cave walls. And yet, many continue to do so. The best are always quick to adapt to new, innovative technologies. This mindset is exactly what separates great developers from the average. So how do you make sure you’re not stuck in the stone age when doing feature rollouts? In this talk, I will share the insights I’ve gained so far in my career as to what should be thought about before releasing a sensitive feature, how to plan it, what type of tools should be used, and how it should be communicated (both externally and internally). Most importantly, I’ll share what should be done when it all goes wrong - and some horror stories of when it did go wrong - and yes, destroying production will be one of them.
